What BillM doesn't like about 42nd Street Oyster Bar Co.:
Overall Disappointing... Again. Over the years, I've given 42nd Street multiple chances. Thinking maybe I just ordered the wrong selection, I always try something different. However, each time, the entrees are sub-par. This visit, 2 diners ordered the crab cakes and the other the Norfolk Crab. While one diners crab cakes were burnt both were bready and dry and while plentiful the Norfolk Crab lacked seasoning and fla... View all feedback. read more42nd Street Oyster Bar has received mixed reviews from diners. Some found the quality of the entrees to be disappointing, with issues such as burnt crab cakes and dry flounder. However, others enjoyed dishes like swordfish and sea bass. The pricing was considered a bit high for the overall experience by some customers. Service was generally good, with attentive and friendly servers. While some diners faced issues like bones in the flounder and a metallic taste from utensils, they still appreciated the delicious options like shrimp and hushpuppies. Overall, the restaurant offers a variety of seafood options, friendly service, and a cool old-school atmosphere, making it a decent choice for a special occasion or casual dining.
Filet mignon was very under cooked(asked for medium well)Sea bass tasted like a Cajun meal. Red crab claws were overcooked.

Very good food. It is a bit pricey. It is difficult to find parking, especially if you are handicapped.
Enjoyed a small company dinner here. Great service and cuisine. Love this place!
We asked for a different table and the host said fine, I guess I have nothing better to do. In a huff.
