Hadn't been to Sweeneys for about 18 years since moving out of the area but visited last night and it hasn't changed one bit! Still does the best pies...

Been visiting this establishment for over 30 years. Hopefully this alone tells you what I think of the place! Awesome pies bursting with flavoursome...

"The staff were friendly and helpful with advising what the meals contained and helping me pick when i was undecided. The restaurant itself had a very authentic Italian feel and this was also given off by the staff who worked there. The food was great quality and the sizes were also really good would highly recommend over bigger named Italian restaurant chains!"

"From beginning to end. we received the highest degree of service and eat in a fabulous safe environment. a return for my parents, but my first time .. and it surpassed my expectations by far! the personal was informatiw and so friendly. from the surrounding greetings was clear that many of the customers return customers and nino and his personal would take the time to deal with them. a good sign of extraordinary foods was the fact that I enjoyed myself immensely and still food envy the 3 other meals we had at our table. they will not be disappointed, but may be pampered by the incredible taste and quality. in addition is nino jr. went out of his way to maintain the charismatic Italian atmosphere while offering a safe environment during the pandemic. take the time to choose screens that do not distract from the device, but a safe place to eat. we will come back next time in pangbourne! thanks for a nice night!"

"Lovely unspoilt old school pub with very friendly landlord and staff. Serves hot rolls with ham, cheese, prawns pickles and onions etc and really good local beers. It’s how pub were when I was a child before they were turned into restaurants. Nice beer garden too and local walks on the downs and ridgeway. Price per person: £10–20 Recommended dishes: Ploughmans, Ham Roll, Spicy Prawn Roll, Stilton Roll"

"First visit for a couple of years to an old favourite. Despite the genial owner apologising for possible slowness due to cost of living pressures (use it or lose it! we were served as efficiently as ever. The feijoada (Brazil’s national dish was to die for, as ever; rissoles and other unusual sides were great too. Also a wide selection of amazing cakes and regional ingredients. Still a hidden gem in a quiet corner of Reading, but if you haven’t been, you’re missing out on a real treat."
