"The hotel Real was one of the first places to exist in Real de Catorce. Built by Humberto Fernandez from scratch. The town was a mass of ruins when we first got there and met him in 1968. He has a dream and built an empire. A quaint hotel with a reasonable place to eat if you aren't in a hurry and will go for whatever the mercado has to offer and what ever is freshest. Humberto's cabrito is to die for, he will introduce you to smoke agave worms which are tasty. He is a culinary master and also a movie star. "The Mexican" with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. "{rates of the Caribbean" are two of his films. His daughters have pretty much taken over daily operations and run the new Amor y la Paz bar and eatery as well as the nuevo hotel. Amor Y la Paz is a center for music and dance and special cultural events. The Mexican National Orchestra has been known to show up. Such a fine group of hosts would be hard to find anywhere."
