Absolutely worth the reservation! I've eaten there twice and left completely satisfied and full every time. The food and service were great. The quirky decor added to the experience. Prices are what you'd expect for Iceland. They very competently catered to someone with coeliac disease (no gluten) and someone with a nut allergy. It's not on the menu, but once asked, they were very good with it.
We didn’t have any reservations but we were able to grab a table early as they opened. I recommend you plan ahead and make reservations as the place is very popular and came recommended by several people. The service was fantastic. The food was fantastic. The decor was fantastic. The horse steak was a first for my spouse and me and it was very good. We also tried the smoked puffin for the first time and it was good too.

We had delicious food at this restaurant! It was recommended by our Airbnb host, and we are glad we went! We tried the whale steak, puffin, horse, and halibut and each dish was excellent. While the restaurant had delicious sauces, you still really got to taste the flavor and texture of each food. The portions were nice and the staff were hospitable and responsive. Pictures are the whale, halibut, and horse. I didn’t get a picture of the puffin.
While making our way back to Hotel Holt, we stumbled upon this delightful restaurant by pure chance. To our delight, the food turned out to be incredibly delicious. We have already made up our minds to return for dinner before departing Iceland and heading back to Canada . By the way, be sure to inquire about their local Icelandic bread—it's a must-try!
