Came for lunch and had the spicy garlic tonkatsu ramen. It wasn't the prettiest bowl when it came out but it was tasty. Filling and salty and just enough kick for me ? the lunch special price was $12.50 plus tax. View all feedback.
What alex alvarez doesn't like about Akaya Sushi, Izakaya Ramen:
The restaurant has a clean feel to it with nice food, but when i ordered the assorted tempura i swear on everything i love there was zero shrimp. I’m a manager at a asian restaurant, so i know what shrimp is. The servers were non-existent, and it was slow. The extensive menu is great. Maybe there was service sabotage, but nothing to dwell on… View all feedback.
Wanted to like this place but regretted going. They have great menu choices and we tried the chicken karrage, spicy garlic tonkotsu ramen, and salmon sashimi. The karrage wasn’t anything special, the ramen was bland and not spicy at all. The eggs in it were overcooked and sour, and the chashu was dry.My partner ordered iced green tea from the menu and we got a cup of ice water with a teabag in it. I guess they literally meant iced green tea lol. The only thing we liked was the salmon but even that didn’t come with wasabi, I had to shout across the restaurant to get our server’s attention.I should’ve known this place wouldn’t be that good when it was completely empty even during dinner time. I just wanted to try something new. The place looks nice and has potential but needs upgrading in food quality and customer service. Also the menus smelled really bad :

After searching Yelp in the North Dallas area for a good sushi restaurant I came up with two that I thought was semi authentic with an Omakase selection. It was a Sunday night also Easter weekend so many of the Japanese establishments were closed. Akaya sushi is located in a shopping center on Campbell Rd just past UT Dallas. I guess that's why the interior looks like a bar/nightclub with its blue ceiling lights which gives all their food a purple tint. We were just trying to find some fresh sashimi and ordered the $67 Omakase sashimi, two nigiri combos and a no rice roll. The no rice roll was excellent, but some of the fish like the salmon, escolar, and tuna was not fresh. We had lots of left overs but decided to leave it. The last thing you want is food poisoning getting on a plane the next day. The service ok.
Everything is really filling and tastes great. I've had various ramen and chicken w/ rice bowls and they've always been amazing. The gyoza, soup, and salad are great if you get a bento box.Food: 5/5
Food is great! Service is terrible. After sitting for 5 minutes I got up a got our sushi menus. Then ordered Mizo sparkling saki from the bartender who asked another person if they had it where it was kept. I had it before knew it was in the cooler pointed it out to him.A waitress came over with full menus took order drink orders after that. It was not busy wait staff were having a conversation. When we did order, our rolls came out staggered and yummy. We got the Dallas Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Tempura Roll crunchy something (lol). The crunch was my fav. My husband ordered tempura veggies that were crunchy flavorful. The dipping sauce was a bit more vinegary than I 've had other places but tasty. I 'd order it again. I 'll probably go back again bc the food is good not overly pricey. Plus I love the Mizo saki! Wish the service was better.
