What Dufus Wombat likes about Van Hage:
Nicely laid out, large garden centre carrying a variety of plants. They also sell a range of garden ornaments as well as tools, seeds, compost barbecues etc. The car park is large with plenty of spaces. There is a café with cakes on site too. However, there is nothing to set this garden centre apart from others. So don't bother making a special journey to it. View all feedback.

What Sharon Edwards doesn't like about Van Hage:
What on earth has happened to Van Hage at Chenies in the last couple on months, all the carefully thought out quality items are being sold off and replaced by stack it high, sell it cheap rubbish. The cafe staff are lovely but we waited 45 mins for 2 toasties goats cheese caramelised onion which ended up being Brie and hot Branson pickle (hugely unpleasant) stale crisps and salad, today 2 x Lukewarm coffees and cake... Easy access, plenty of parking. Good selection of items but not cheap.

"Absolutely Amazing food and service! (Especially the lamb! We were not meant to be eating in here initially but we looked over and the shawarma looked so delicious we just had to go in. The place is small but thats not an issue because it's very CLEAN! As mentioned we were on our way to a different place to eat so when we walked in we had NO idea what to order. I'm guessing it was the owner, was so patient and talked me through what he thought would be best to order and what would be included in it. He started us off with lentil soup- and oh my days there was an explosion of flavours in my mouth! Never have I tasted lentil soup as delicious as that! While we got over that our table was wiped down and our main dish was bought to us- we went for the mixed grill- I prefer lamb and was delighted to hear it was actually lamb used and NOT mutton! Portion size was very good, I would recommend having a read of the menu as there's alot included in it, we had some left over that we brought home. I picked up a piece of lamb thinking it's going to be chewy but I was really surprised that it was so soft and succulent! None of the flavours were overpowering and we really enjoyed our meal. And once again as we finished our meal, our table was swiftly cleared and aromatic tea bought to us -I'm not a tea person- especially if it has no milk- but I found myself sitting there drinking this delicious warm aromatic tea WITH a piece of chocolate orange brownie. I would highly recommend visiting this place. You will not be disappointed! And it's FRESH FOOD, nothings being brought out from the back it's all there Infront of you."

"The coffee and one of the cakes were fine but the millionaires shortbread was so hard it was inedible. Whilst it's great you have some tables down a steep hill this isn't ideal for people who can't manage this, could you put a few tables near the exit/chickens?"

"Lovely coffee and cafe. The coffee, cakes and lunches are really good. The staff are very helpful and friendly. This is all in a great setting: plenty of outside tables in the court yard garden which is lovely and sunny, in the winter or when wet there is a great range of sofas in the shop to sit on. Always find something in the furniture to buy too…."
