"My lord! The talent in this kitchen is unmatched. We ordered the special a rabbit cooked with who knows what and let me tell you. It was the best thing I have ever had. So delicious, I almost ordered a second! The polenta, the fried squash blossom, the ravioli and the Tuscan bean soup was fantastic!!! I cried when I saw the bill so affordable!!! I almost want to stay an extra day so I can eat again at this incredible restaurant. But tomorrow we bike to Montepulciano. If you stop in Scansano this place is a must and please make reservations. "Always faultless and hard to put into words how brilliant it is but I'll try... This is the one place we come back to (must have been here at least 10 times now) Fabulous, home cooked food made with clear passion. The bar below is great for a pre dinner drink, with a gorgeous view and the food is utterly first class. Perfect Tuscan cuisine but with a bit of a twist inspired by the local area ie. Nettle gnocchi. Don't miss the dolce which are always beautifully and artistically presented, not to mention utterly delicious! The Monte Amiata brought my family and I particular you. A brilliant wine list as well. Service is also always top quality thanks to the charming Massimo. To top all of this off, it is incredibly reasonably priced. Do not miss, you will not regret! Always a consistently excellent experience!"

"My wife and I had not booked a lunch restaurant in advance, but were helped by our hotel. We got the last table for two. The hosteria is a bit off the beaten track, but offers a nice, atmospheric interior. Unfortunately for us, the last table was next to the kitchen with a busy door that squeeked in pain each time it moved (so every five second or so . In fact we struggled to talk and listen to the head waiter. We ordered local cheeses as primo and then had a pasta each one of us gluten free. The food was average at best. Having been told by the hotel about the fantastic cheeses and meat of the area, this was a disappointment. My pasta was with a duck sauce which really did not have a taste at all. My wife had spaghetti with black truffle. Her pasta clung together (not freshly cooked, perhaps? and was difficult to eat, but at least the taste was Ok. When we asked for il conto, all we got was a handwritten amount at a blank piece of paper. Whether the amount was correct according to what we ordered did not seem a concern. We paid with credit card, so presumable the money ended up in the right hands. Go somewhere else!"
