"We entered the restaurant with two children under Always a nerve wracking feat when you wish to fine dine. Restaurants can turn up their cheek to us but not Wild and Native. We were greeted by a waitress who told us to try to book online and that they opened in We stepped out in the front porch to try to book online. They were booked solid as it was a Friday night. Not a moment later the chef stepped out and chatted to us briefly and within minutes he had us at a table ready to dine in We were ever so grateful! Our children are used to dining out and are very well behaved but it was still a pleasure to be feeding them before they may interrupt a restaurant filled with distinguished guests. The chef set us up straight away with some home made breads for the kids to tuck in. They were divine! Both white and brown breads were very fresh, flavourful and exactly what you hope for in an Irish bread. We had the mussels to start and the sauce, while simple, was exquisite. Fresh seafood sourced well doesn’t need any saucy flare. Keep it simple and let it speak for itself. The leftover sauce was splashed into our daughter’s plain pasta noodles and gobbled up happily by both our girls. We had the Brill and also the scallops and prawn for mains and a bottle of French Picoul wine. This paired nicely as the crisp wine cut the delicate sauces on both seafood dishes. Local Spuds steamed as a delicious side. In both dishes the seafood was cooked to perfection. Sauces accompanied the seafood like a supporting act just as they should. The chef came out to check on our meals and was very kind to offer our daughters some complimentary hot chocolate drinks. He was clearly also the owner and ran a tight ship despite the lack of staff that the country is facing due to covid changing the landscape.Overall our experience at Wild and Native was divine. While not a typical family restaurant, it was a meal that we could relish and enjoy because we have well behaved littles who are growing into quite the foodies themselves. I wouldn’t recommend this place for children who can’t sit still or can get noisy. But for a foodie family that enjoys fine dining, this is just the place to taste some local Irish food at its finest. Thank you for such a wonderful and delicious evening out!"

"I’m from Italy and we take the food very seriously. That’s why I didn’t like this place. If the little village is an heaven of a place, this “gastropub” is the Purgatory: it’s not the Hell, but it’s really frustrating. Everyone is so kind and delighted, the place is quiet and still, but no one cares to take your ordination and the food is really meh for the price. Just keep on walking and you might get the redemption you need to get to a better place."

"A group of us visited la marine recently to celebrate my father on the birthday of the law. it was great from beginning to end! we enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar in front of the hand and were served by the very professional and friendly crick. there is a cocktail list that we penetrated, but the selection of delicious wee, especially if they can see directly in the cellar! paulus led us to our table and self and breda took care of us all night. we enjoyed a mix of dressed from the early bird menu (excellent value! and the a la carte menu. we all tried something different from steak, hake to spatchcock huh, without complaining of everyone! a birthday cake came for the birthday boy and made a big fuss! this is not my first time at la marine, and it will not be the last! it is really a jewel in the krone and a big ass to rosslare and wexford."
