"This is my favorite place to go in the area. We love the unusual decor, the service, and the food overall. My broiled shrimp was outstanding. My husband found his pork chop to be a little dry and boring. The crème brûlée was a wonderful desert to end our evening with. Great job!!"

"Amazing, amazing and I'll say it again AMAZING! My girlfriend and I went to Volo auto museum and were hungry. New to the Crystal Lake area (1 year) we Googled and stumbled into Bobby's. The entire experience from the Staff, Bobby himself to the family members and the stories they shared. Let's not forget the F. O. O. D. We felt bad because it must have looked like we haven't eaten in weeks; I mean we ate everything! Biscuits and gravy perfect. The biscuits were not doughy or floury tasting, the sausage was not too spicy and no grease running into the gravy; the gravy was excellent. REAL corned beef and hash who does this anymore!? Winner a must have! Blueberry pancakes. Real blueberries (obviously) and damn they are just friggin good too! Most places add some vanilla extract and that makes everybody happy, I don't know what Bobby does but these pancakes blow away any others I have tried. Bread pudding WOW sums it up. If my father were alive he would be back for the bread pudding, the corned beef hash and the biscuits and gravy as these were some of his favorites. Finally, as if we could eat anymore, the peach cobbler. Simple delicious, not over sweet and fresh peaches this will put a smile on your face. I highly recommend this place. Bobby's Barrel is cozzy, comfortably, friendly with food that will please and suprise your taste buds! Enjoy!"

"We really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the only good thing was the toast. I am giving them 2 stars for the fast service and for getting a large order correct. My husband had the biscuits and gravy, he didn’t get into specifics but said that he didn’t like them. The pancakes were rubbery, you know the kind you need a serrated knife to cut? Pancakes should have just a slight crisp on the outside, even the taste of these was just off. The bacon, although good size pieces, was entirely too greasy. As if they cooked it in an inch of grease and never bothered to strain or pat some of the grease off. Bacon should be greasy but not sopping. The potato pancakes were burnt, too thin, and tasted like they may have come from a box. I couldn’t take more than 3 bites, I tried. It was nice that they provided both apple sauce and sour cream. The regular hash browns were literally just grated (probably Idaho) potatoes cooked. Zero seasoning or flavor, although some salt, pepper, and ketchup made them taste just fine. The omelette was similar, bland. No flavor. My husband didn’t even eat more than a few bites of his eggs. They did have these fantastic fried potatoes, although a bit greasy, they were seasoned well and tasty. We also ordered the Breakfast burrito and I’m still trying to figure out how they could make chorizo and what I think was some sort of salsa on the side bland. I just don’t get it. Overall, we will not be ordering food from them again. The prices were fair, in my opinion for portion size, but we ended up throwing most of the food out due to taste."

"I love their quality of bread, but this is not enough if a service for customers. This review refers to their customer service quality, I would give it a zero. I called on Wednesday 3 May at 4am and a very rude lady answer to the phone that showed a lot of attitude. I wish I had asked her name because she shouldn't work in customer service if she is not willing to treat customers with respect. I can understand if she had a bad day, but because of her actions customers can turn away. Quality of products and services for the customer goes hand in hand. Please train the staff better, your business deserves it."
