What Joseph Faivre doesn't like about L'Esperanto:
Good food, but nothing exceptional. We ordered the speciality of the day. Long wait before to get. The location is so small and packed that I felt really uncomfortable, I felt like I was eating at the same table with the couple next to us. I believe there is comfortable room for the half of the tables I saw packed inside. The speciality of that day was a fish. Nothing epic, just correctly cooked. Accounting the locat... Accounting the location setup, in my opinion is overrated. You get poor value, also the bill was a bit overpriced.
Have eaten there several times, each visit was a pleasure. The place is very small, when weather permits you can sit outside, more or less in a smallquiet side street. Choice on menu is limited, but what they serve is fresh.Portions are not big, so a complete meal on the menu with starter main dish and desert are advisable. Even so, prices are very reasonable. One remark: at our last visit, end of July, those of our party who chose fish as main dishreally had a very small filet.
This restaurant is run in a relaxed and friendly way by a bunch of youngsters who seem keen to invite their friends in and cook for them. And you happen to drop by too. But the food is interesting, original and excellently cooked. I tried a coarse chopped tomato and cucumber starter in a spicy sauce, which sounds a little unusal but nothing special, but the combination of herbs spices and texture made it delicious. The loup de mer was beautfully cooked and presented. And it is all very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a formal meal with prices to suit go elsewhere, but if you like food honestly presented by people who are keen to show that they can cook try this out
