Excellent food. A refreshing selection of intentionally gluten-free dishes (including dessert). Probably the best presentation of scallops I've ever eaten. You only have a few tables, so be sure to get a reservation. Their location is incredibly obscure, especially for such a hidden gem, but the atmosphere is great and the food, just stunning. I've been excited to try this place for a long time and unfortunately it just did not live up to my expectations. I got the Pan Seared Scallops with lobster risotto in a sherried beurre blanc. Sadly the risotto was flavorless watery. I was so disappointed as I love risotto. The scallops were ok, nothing special. Unbelievable food. Very friendly staff, we were twice and had the same waitress each time. Your help in wine pairing was excellent, cannot wait for our next visit. Small on the expensive side, but for the quality it is worth. This is a must if you don't have it.
This place was not only super tasty, but also very affordable. It is a small hole in the wall under a salon, but as soon as you are down, you will be transported immediately into this really beautiful, refined and beautiful local restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and funny. Absolutely back, it's a must!
We used the boss and the gardener as the Caterers for my sister's wedding and it was so great! During the planning phase, the cook was very responsive, patiently answered questions and advises the logistics. The food itself exceeded expectations, many compliments were given by the guests! And the prices for the catering was a stealing of a deal! Excellent value for the paid price and we cannot say enough wonderful things.
We found this place via an app showing restaurants with vegetarian and vegan food in the Saco area after finding an old favorite closed on Sunday. We were very pleasantly surprised! Elegant and intimate,The Chef and the Gardiner is a small room with seating for about 30, an excellent variety of wines and designer cocktails, handpicked beers and attentive, knowledgeable service. The quinoa cakes were superb, Portuguese vegetables perfectly seasoned and cooked to crisp/tender and my partner found the pork with blueberry chutney to be moist and flavor-packed. The apple caramel cheesecake was the perfect ending to our meal. When in the area, we won't hesitate to return.
