Was driving thru St. Joseph from KC to Omaha, and wanted to stop for a nice dinner. 54th Street totally hit the mark. The place was busy and had a vibrant atmosphere, but that did not affect the service. Host and server were very knowledgeable and attentive. Food came out quick. Everything tasted fresh and hot, and the portion sizes were big! Very good value. read more.

They are getting three stars because staff was excellent. The food was no where near worth the price except for the pasta and fried pickles. I couldn't eat my fried chicken, the steak was tough and small, the bread flavorless, the gravy tasted like flour (wasn't cooked long enough), and the mashed potatoes had a fish taste. read more.
