this is our second visit to l’auberge basque, which is both a hotel (very recommended) and a restaurant. at our last visit we enjoyed both the hotel, the grounds and the restaurant, but this year the restaurant was a little...down in view of the quality that you can have in the basque country. the courts were all good, but not excellent. the worst, however, was the sommelier, who was really unfriendly and not helpful... Gastronomic meal at mr cédric bechade. frankly, great art. irreproachable personal, variety of superb tastes, products of extreme quality. originality also resides and especially in the revisited side of Basque cuisine. Just awesome! We stayed in one of the contemporary rooms, and there too, it's a faultless one. very beautiful room space, superb bedding, relaxing decoration. The breakfasts are simply sublime with once again, priority to local products (staff brooms especially!...). Finally, the place is simply great: facing the rhune, in the middle of the counterfort, surrounded by fields and meadows, very green, extremely pleasant.So you will have understood it, we were delighted at all levels. a big bravo and thank you to all the staff.
I went there three times, the first to the top, the second to the top but the third... it was for our one year with my girlfriend. quality is undeniable but I was very disappointed that day of the quantity and waiting between the dishes (between 20 and 30 min) , maybe it was a bad day I don’t know . It's because the two times before made me dream that I wanted to go back there a third time. However frame really top very sharp, open kitchen. I still recommend.
View of the pyrenees and the Basque country to breathe. local cuisine, delicate, complex, light and moving. One of the best tables I had the opportunity to make.
I had a great time at that table in her natural setting. a beautiful creativity with respect for the good Basque products that the chef knows how to highlight. a degree more than the last time in the elaboration of flavors. I recommend enjoying with the eyes before tasting.
