Back in the 80's and 90's France was filled with roadside restaurants, known as les Routieres. Usually family-run and for road travelers and lorry drivers. They never pretended to offer haute cuisine but they always gave, in spades, a three or four course hearty meal, with wine, delivered fast, hot and ALWAYS made with good quality ingredients.
