simple; this owner and the woman team are some of the best bratereien in the city. the owner refuses to admit everything, but the best, in quality and presentation. View all feedback.
What Sheila Stamm doesn't like about Caffe D'Bolla:
One of the rudest, most condescending experiences I 've had at a coffee shop. Advised me I was wasting his product by ordering a cappuccino. Suggested I was being disrespectful for requesting the order to go (i had to get to a meeting). The coffee was good. obviously a lot of care in the selection of the beans and the brewing process. but the owner was so pretentious and coveted that my man and I felt uncomfortable to be only in there. my man does not drink a coffee, so he tried to order a boba. they had none. So he tried to order a chai. the owner says we don't have one. No one comes here for the chai. Why put the dinge on the menu if they don't use it?
This coffee is an emotional experience. beyond the dynamic taste profile of the espressos, it filled me with literally happiness in a way that I can only describe as artistic beauty.
A friend and I went in around noon. The owner warned us that this coffee experience would take an hour and that the price was expensive. I said that was fine as we had heard good things and my friend and I wanted to catch up with each other so we had all the time in the world. He proceeded to remind us that it was expensive as if insinuating we could not afford it and when I told him we will buy the coffee and put my card on the table he said reiterated it would take a long time to prepare and I repeated that I was interested in the process and and he just stood and stared at us until we felt so uncomfortable that we left without having been served. There were no other customers present in the store. I feel very bad leaving a review without having tasted the coffee but the owner made it abundantly clear we were not welcome.
The coffee is half the experience and to say it's excellent is an understatement. Beside the creamy, delicious rich flavor of the Americano I ordered, John was just that much more of a treat. His spicy take on his craft is both enlightening and equally entertaining. You wanna know anything about espresso? John's your man. I'm very much looking forward to coming back.

He clearly DOES know his craft and is excellent at it. I will never return however as someone who enjoys their craft this much should WANT to teach and educate instead of condescend and ridicule.
