One of my favorite places in Salt Lake, a crisp and welcoming spot for a date night, a nice dinner out, or to take your parents. Delicious plates as well, personal favorite is the salmon, that soy teriyaki flavor in the perfectly cooked tender inside under the slightly crunchy crispy outside layer, it just gets me goin.... anyways, everything about this place just screams that your check will punch a hole through you... What Richard doesn't like about Current Fish and Oyster:
Unfortunately there were many annoying flies swirling around us as we dined on the patio! There must be a solution somewhere to get rid of them. They land on you and your food! I would not dine outside there again! Otherwise , food and service (Bobbi waited on us) excellent. View all feedback.
Excellent eating in a funky atmosphere we had four people and we all loved our eating. the waiter would be a little slow, but not bad and he always apologized. even one of the desserts. the atmosphere was funny with a casual chic art by vibe. would highly recommend.
Walked in with one other person on a Saturday at 4:30pm. The place was practically empty. The hostess said it wouldn't be a problem getting us in without a reservation. The hostess then left to ask her manager. The seat they gave us was right next to the hostess booth even though it was completely empty. Overall a disappointing experience. Overpriced and the service was lacking.
I must admit, I looked rather foolish on arrival as I walked right past the entrance... I was in the mood to relax, so I splurged for the cappuccino. Flavor was robust. They only gave me one sugar cube, which ended up being perfect for my desired level of sweetness... The place is huge. I love the high ceiling... The Trout and Eggs looked magnificent. The potatoes were piping hot and delightful. The trout was reminiscent of a grilled salmon. Do not judge this dish based on the first egg-less bites. The contrast is staggering. The warmth and joy that I felt when I ate a morsel of fish, dripping with over-easy egg and completed with green, was overwhelming...
I was excited to check out the new brunch menu at Current Fish and Oyster. If you havenâ€t been paying attention, this new(er) restaurant and what Chef Logen Crew is doing here in Salt Lake City is pretty fantastic. If you havenâ€t been yet, brunch is a great way to check this place out on a smaller budget — and with some of the new dishes Logen has created, you wonâ€t be sorry.
Over the past few weeks, I have made it to Under Current a few times to see what all the BUZZ is about! In case you don’t know, Under Current is located right next to the new Current Fish Oyster restaurant on 270 South 300 East. Under the same ownership and utilizing the same kitchen, you would think that these two establishments might be (too) similar. But never fear, Under Current produces an entirely different vibe and offers a different small bites menu. Under Current focuses on COCKTAILS! For all intents and purposes, Under Current is a bar – and they take it very seriously.
