I went here after a tour of Contra Costa College. To be honest, I was very surprised. The people who work in the kitchen and work on the floor are all students in the culinary arts department and they are very well trained and they do their jobs well. I ordered the salmon, because it wasn't overpriced and because it was gluten free. The waitress was pretty knowledgeable and so what I thought would be an OK, run of th... View all feedback.
Hidden gem. Hours are hard to catch cuz open only during lunch for 2 hrs. Looks classy inside. Serves as a laboratory since all run by students in the culinary program. Price is unbeatable. They state the plates are small but in fact same size as fancy places. Could try couple different dishes due to pricing. They also encourage you to order and try multiple dishes so students have practice cooking the dishes. The food is also good btw. You can't beat a $8 entree of salmon with mash potatoes. AND the salmon is size of your fist so it actually isn't small. Under $40 for two people which included drinks, dessert, and soup.
Great hidden gem! All of the food I have tried is delicious and priced very reasonably. I believe it is run by the students of the Culinary Academy. Just be patient with the service, they are still learning.
The place is lovely and see the students really working hard to get everything right, is amazing! Delicious menu and cute space!
Great Experience love the atmosphere and love the chefs ! Keep it up y’all!!
This is a culinary school with a cafe and patio dining. We came today for patio dining since Covid doesn't allow for indoor dining. They have a regular menu just like a regular restaurant but run by students. There's a supervisor that supervises them but everything takes extra time. For example, we normally would finish lunch in 30 minutes but here, it takes more than an hour. The students were confused and took our dish to another table and dessert took 15 minutes even though it's already prepared. The prices are amazing. I had a wonderful salmon dish (see picture) with a big piece of perfectly cooked salmon with rice and lima beans for 8 dollars! My husband enjoyed his pork belly dish for 7 dollars. We also ordered honeyed brussel sprouts for 3 dollars but they were soggy and I didn't like them. They also have an extensive drink menu for Matcha Chai lattes, coffees, and other drinks. If you have time and can fit into their schedule which is only Tuesdays to Thursdays between 11-12:30, this is a great place to try many dishes for almost nothing!
