Best pizza in the area since 1970. Try the pinzo pizza made with the farina integrale (whole-wheat flour). Simply the best. They also make an outstanding fritto misto. View all feedback.

If you are staying in Alessandria then a visit here is a must! Gorgeous food (we all had pizzas which were sublime), Peroni on draft and the home-made desserts...

"Even if this cooperative-run restaurant was not part of such a noble cause, providing work for people in need, the lunchtime meal we enjoyed was certainly the best and most memorable one we had during our week in Piemonte. Despite being late October, we were able to sit outside on the covered porch with a view of the nearby allotments from which some of the produce for the restaurant is grown. The menu for the day offered a splendid range of local foods typical of Northern Italian cuisine. We started with spaetzle al gorgonzola, a delicious reminder of our proximity to Germany, and tender homemade tortellini with cream, prosciutto, peas and saffron. Both pastas were excellent. Oftentimes, the main course is a disappointment after a good starter, but we both loved the succulent roasted rabbit with grilled bitter radicchio. There was so much good meat to be had; it made me vow to seek out rabbit back home in England. We also ordered arancini, the pyramid-shaped fried rice croquettes favoured by Inspector Montalbano in the South. They were a bit of a disappointment in the restaurant, served room temperature and a bit stodgy, but we took the leftovers back to our rented accommodation and sliced and re-fried them and they were delicious. We ordered a couple of side dishes to accompany our meal: roasted potatoes with rosemary and broccoli grown on the allotment. For dessert, we shared the castagnaccio, a dense chestnut tart made with raisins and rosemary and drizzled with honey made on site. It was unusual – not too sweet – but we preferred the pineapple, coconut, and rum bavarese, despite the fact that the ingredients were not local. The meal, with a half litre of house wine, cost us around 30 Euros, an unbelievable bargain considering the quality and novelty of the whole experience. I would definitely recommend this place for its food and social responsibility and would certainly make a return visit."

"Very friendly reception, salami and foccacia on the table. Great anti-pasti with a lot of variations followed by carne cruda, vitello and then vegetable covered with fonduta (melted cheese) and covered with white truffles. Everything was great and the service was exceptionel. Wine list extensive, they have a huge wine cellar. We asked for a very good Barbera similar to the Bricco dell Uccelleno and were very pleased with the recommendation."
