This restaurant is a bit hard to find - its not on the normal tourist route of Santa Marta. On the edge of Parque San Miguel, it gives you a whole different view of the Santa Marta culture. When I went here, I felt like I was seeing the real people of the city. The food is great. It is prepared with so much love and care. Its american style food with a Colombian flare. This restaurant is a bit difficult to find, not on the normal tourist route of Santa Marta. At the edge of Parque San Miguel there is a completely different view of the Santa Marta culture. One night came for dinner with my two children while my husband took care of some work. The whole food here is delicious. My children had a fantastic pasta with lots of vegetables. There were even flowers and broccoli in it (the first and only time I met these vegetables on my trip to Colombia). I ordered the Veggie Tacos and could not have enjoyed them anymore. The service was great and the owners were very nice. I would definitely recommend this place. The only negative is the place. Right next to a cemetery. I'm a little too superstitious for the stuff, but I could ignore it because of the amazing food.
The best way to start your weekend in Santa Marta is Brunch at El Frescanjero. We had the Hearty Veggie Tacos, full of delicious roasted potatoes, eggs, onions and peppers, all cooked for perfection and filled with a great hot sauce. We had the best **** Mary's ever to drink! Full taste with a beautiful kick and some amazing olives. Robert and Jim are great hosts and make everyone so welcome. El Frescanjero is a fun, relaxed restaurant/bar to spend your time.
I lived in Santa Marta for two years and was so excited when this restaurant was opened. It looks at the beautiful Parque Miguel and both the restaurant and the park are two of the best kept secrets of Santa Marta. Robert and Jim are among the most friendly guys you'll ever meet and they've designed a knock menu. They are proud of what they have created (as they should be) and offer excellent service and great conversation. I had the veggie tacos, the shrimps po-boy and the Pasta Primavera and all three were amazing. The restaurant itself is housed in a beautiful building and the bar has an excellent selection of beers, both locally and imported, many from Germany. It would be a shame to miss this place when you visit because the food is great and Parque Miguel is also fantastic. If you're a local, stop. This place must become one of your regular meeting places.
