We had an excellent meal at this restaurant. The food was hot, high quality, and delicious. It was our first visit, but definitely not our last. The staff were professional yet friendly. We will be recommending this place to everyone! View all feedback.

The food is oversold, overpriced, hastily prepared, and not worth the money. We can make better meals at home.
This cafe/restaurant is a perfect spot for enjoying a tasty Yorkshire Cream Tea! After completing the Cleveland Way, we stumbled upon this charming establishment along the seaside to relax and indulge. We sat outside with blankets provided and admired the sunset while listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the sea wall. The scones were especially delicious, and the entire tea experience was delightful.
Downcliffe was chosen for a family birthday celebration over a few other options in Filey and the surrounding area. We opted for this on the basis of past personal experience of lunch and drinks, and the menu, reviews, and location. We felt that downcliffe was...a venue that would make for a really special celebration. However, this wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for. The one positive was that the food was really lovely but the quality of the food was completely overshadowed by the service. From arriving and being shown to our table to leaving there was very little interaction with restaurant staff apart with from taking food and drink orders and serving. There was no attempt to make anything special about the evening. There was no ambiance, to the point that we took the cake that we’d asked if we could bring back to our accommodation without cutting it. Downcliffe isn’t a cheap option, our bill was and the customer service, was completely lacking and in our experience does not justify the cost. We left the restaurant without so much as a goodbye from anyone working there! We have eaten at comparable restaurants price wise and even pubs and had a significantly better experience than this! The very worst thing about this though is that evening fell way short of what we wanted for our mum and it’s not possible for us to replay it. I have already given this feedback to the restaurant and received what can only be described as an unhelpful response. Suffice to say we won't be back and based on our experience wouldn't recommend.
