"Homie is the only Shanghainese vegetarian restaurant I’ve encountered in Taiwan, and since that’s where my grandmother is from, the cuisine holds a special place in my heart. Ricky, the owner, was very friendly when I went to dine solo shortly after moving to Taichung. I was unfamiliar with where to find organic produce, and he was the person who recommended the Taiwan Fresh Supermarket 楓康超市 chain to me. In fact, he uses their organic soy bean sprouts in the Nanjing-style soy bean sprouts 寧式黃豆芽 side dish. The Shanghainese steamed gluten 上海烤麩 is also well-made. I really appreciated the very fragrant coconut oil pot stickers 椰子油鍋貼 filled with salted mustard greens. However, the Shanghainese vegetable rice casserole 上海蔬菜飯 could have benefited from more vegetables. The date paste roasted biscuit 棗泥鍋燒餅 was a delightful conclusion to our lunch. During the pandemic, customers are seated far enough away from each other to comply with social distancing orders, so you might be turned away if you don’t have a reservation. You’ll also be asked to wash your hands at the sink outside the toilet before being handed a menu."

"Reliable, fast, not too bold, tasteful and great variety! Most dishes are vegan, but the one at the end of the buffet line had egg in it. I went to the 10th floor in building A. Much space to sit and hang around with friends. Only NT$16 per 100 g food from 12:30-13:30, but the selection is smaller as the early bird gets the worm. (NT$18 per 100 g between 11:30-12:30. Purple rice available: NT$5 for a small bowl or NT$10 for a big one. They have reusable stirrups and plates (when also made of melamine) and there is a tray of spices on the other side of the cash register. The day I went, I especially enjoyed the green Papaya salad. Most dishes, however, are Taiwanese."

"I thought the food was on the slightly blander side, but I did enjoy the crouching tiger hidden dragon golden kimchi-stuffed tofu skin 臥虎藏龍 , three-cup lion’s mane mushroom 三杯猴頭菇 and the fragrant eggplant 餘香茄子 . I wouldn’t get the pan-fried dumplings 脆皮煎餃 again. They only have white rice, which is a bummer but not uncommon. Best to come here with a group so that you can try a variety of dishes."

"This place is pretty good how to go veggie cafeterias in Taiwan. It is not greasy, it is well lit, it has many seats, and it offers a wide selection of dishes. I asked the staff who contained eggs or milk, and only one came with eggs this evening. Hallelujah! Their free grassy jelly is not excessively sweet, and the soup contained many different types of vegetables. BYO containers and have it predominant before you load it up to avoid using disposable. Reuse it later for the soup."

"Although this is a shaved noodle shop, the dumplings are where it is. The fried rice also looked pretty delicious, but I didn't save a room to try. The silver thread balls were not in the long form I expected to be, nor were they deep-fried. But they were nice and fluffy. I am not sure if I would come back here, but it is a nice little vegetarian option near the town hall with a checkbox on the bottom of the menu for “vegan”. ‘"
