What Justin C doesn't like about Brewed Awakenings:
The shop closes at 4, I rolled up at 3:55 and the lady wouldn't make me a americano. Was super rude about it too, first and last time I come by that coffee shop, bummer employees represent companies like that View all feedback.
I ordered a white mocha today and it was really good. I really liked it a lot! The barista working there was really nice and friendly and I think that this is probably one of the better quality white mochas that I have had in town. Try 'em out! : 5655 Old Seward Highway
This place is in an easy to miss location, so I 'm glad they have the espresso and food signs out on Old Seward so you know where to turn to access the place. I 've had had nothing but good experiences here. The baristas are very friendly and the food and drinks prices are a great deal. They have a daily drink special, which during my last visit was some kind of macaroon inspired blend of coconut and French vanilla. I decided to try that in a latte and I ordered a black bean breakfast burrito. The latte was enjoyable, although a little too sweet for my liking (I should start asking for less syrup). The black bean burrito comes with egg, cheese, potatoes, and black beans with a side of salsa. The burrito was hearty and filling albeit very starchy because of the beans and potatoes enough for me to split into two meals. Another time I got an iced wedding cake latte (vanilla, coconut, and Irish cream) in a 20 ounce size, which comes with four shots. I like the bolder taste that comes with the extra espresso to balance out the sweetness. They offer a prepaid $20 card that includes a free drink with purchase. They also have a punch card, and unlike other coffee stands I 've visited, the baristas let you combine the prepaid card with the punch card. Definitely worth visiting if you 're in the area.

I found this place while driving southbound on Old Seward. Brewed Awakenings can be very tricky to fine since they are a little ways from the road in the parking lot of Alaska Industrial Hardware between International Airport Rd and Dowling St. The employees here are very friendly and they recognize their regular customers when they pull up to the drive-thru window. They have an extended menu of espresso drinks with the conventional selections of Lattes, Cappuccinos, and Mochas but they also have daily specialty drinks as well. I decided to go with the featured drink called The Buttercream Dream Mocha with butterscotch and caramel. The wait only took a few short minutes and the barista engaged in friendly conversation with me while she was making the drink. The Mocha was delicious with a smooth coffee taste punctuated with a noticeable amount of butterscotch to complement the creamy cocoa perfectly blended in. There are also a varied selection of food items like Muffins, Cookies, Brownies, Breakfast Sandwiches, Sausage or Bacon Burritos, and Stuffed Pretzels. A punch card is offered on your first visit where you get a free drink after the 9th purchase. Their Facebook page will provide a different specialty coffee drink every day. One of the better coffee shops I've been to in the South Anchorage area.
Helpful staff, prompt service, good location, and a large variety of drinks to choose from. Order your own combination of flavors in your drink, or choose from the menu. Either way, you will soon have a drink that the owners should, and probably are, proud to served. A small selection of tasty treats to snack on is also available. All of this, plus the business hours are very accommodating to the average person. Sometimes, an end of the day espresso is what's called to wrap up another day in life by the Bay.
