What Gary swift likes about Il Porto:
Small village cafe with great food and service. Place was busy for both sit down and take out meals. We all had panini’s which were all fresh plentiful ingredients paired with a flavourful tomato soup. Don’t expect much from the decor however the food and service makes it a worthwhile stop. "The Sober Island Brewing Company is an integral part of the Henley House Pub although they do more than just supply beer to the Henley House Pub. They do private parties, social events and much more. They have a variety of beer of which the most interesting is one which involves oysters. Now before you turn up your nose taste it and see what you think. They brought their trailer out to my retirement party and their beer was a real hit with one and all."

"Because my mother grew up near Chedabucto Bay (north east mainland Nova Scotia) .we always take the Eastern Shore drive from Halifax . a bit longer than the TransCanada but . such amazing sights of rural Nova Scotia. . Sheet Harbour was always a stop..at the Visitors Information (and bathroom break) and a walk by the falls . Il Porto was suggested as a delightful place to eat ..and it did not disappoint. Dangerous to pronounce an early meal of a trip as 'the best ' but the chowder was delicious and the lobster roll a perfect compliment. .The four of us thoroughly enjoyed this unexpected find. Il Porto is unpretentious but accommodating and friendly attentive service . And a Monday midday.. it was full . There are not many dining places between Halifax and Canso (on the Eastern Shore Drive) so finding one that is appealing and with excellent food is a bonus I highly recommend it ."
