What Tony B doesn't like about Da Haaf:
A small restaurant located in a college in Scalloway. We had strong recommendations. But items on the menu were quite expensive. I had a fish tagine which was really not at all like an authentic tagine. I was quite disappointed. The Scalloway Hotel along the road was much better value and had good food at a rerasonable price. This is one of my favourite Shetland eateries!! The cheese soufflé was seriously good, and the fish dishes all delicious!! Great service and it’s not a place you feel you have to overdress my kinda place!!
I visited with a friend for lunch. The menu is not huge, but I would have been happy ordering any item off the menu. I eventually chose the fishcakes (2) which included a crisp salad. Very nice, and priced at just under £10. Well worth a visit!
I turned up a little early for a lunch reservation and was made to feel very welcome. The ladies who looked after me explained they had reserved a nice window table so they checked if I wanted to wait until that was free : I did. They made sure I was comfy whilst waiting and ensured I had water to hand during that time. These things are simple. Ut often neglected by even the grandest of places.Once ensconced in a lovely spot, I enjoyed a bowl of cullen skink with a home made bannock. It was just perfect, and filling enough as a main meal. But I did manage a very toothsome icecream sundae. Excellent all round in terms of price, service, view and quality of food.Hope to go again fairly soon...
Plenty on plate ,,service second to none,,fair price try the Cullen skink or the fresh haddock..both very good..
We had an excellent meal here and would definitely recommend. Overlooking Scalloway harbour the restaurant uses fresh locally caught fish, and the Cullen Skink starter was excellent, as was the rest of our meal.
