We were on a trip from Houston and coming back from a hike on twin falls. This place popped up and omg we are so happy it did. The food was amazing best of all their horchata. Service was fast and amazing, always checking in on us. Absolutely loved it, and again the food was amazing. If we are ever back in TN and near here definitely will be going back. View all feedback.
What Jacob Lawson doesn't like about El Rancho Cantu Mexican:
I wanted something new to eat, so I decided to try Mexican food. There are multiple Mexican restaurants in Smithville and I plan to visit all of them to see which one I like most. It would be nice if there were more restaurants than just Mexican restaurants, but it's okay that there isn't. I had a beef taco with a beef burrito with a side of fries, and a Coca Cola to drink. The person who took my order was okay, and... View all feedback.
One amazing small town restaurant that treats you well!!!
Very good service very polite the food was amazing I recommend best chicken plate ever
Great place the 2 brothers that own it are great cooks and very nice.
Tried this little place in Smithville tonight and really enjoyed it. Started off with some beans and queso, very good. Chips were good. I don't like them salted and these were great. I ordered the Burrito Hawaii (see photo). Loaded with meat (chicken, steak, shrimp, and chorizo). Covered in queso and three pineapple rings on top for just a little bit of sweetness. My wife got the Chile Verde with chicken, which was good and also came with rice and beans. I asked the server if they had a sauce that was a little spicier. She's offered me something? Jalapeno and it was terrific! Maybe a crema something? We'll be back! Probably on a Tuesday or Thursday for $1 tacos!
I have to admit, I was skeptical when my wife suggested getting Mexican food in this rather small town in rural Tennessee, but my goodness was she spot-on with her choice. This is not only the best Mexican restaurant around town, but it is also, in my humble opinion, one of, if not THE, best in town across all genres of food. My wife is and was raised in a Mexican household, so I trust her opinion and she said, and I quote, THIS IS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD, BESIDES MY GRANDMA S OF COURSE. Additionally, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere is relaxed but comfortable, cozy, and very clean. The staff are wonderfully kind, considerate, and fast fast fast!! I cannot recommend this place enough, and I highly suggest you give the Burrito California a try.... I am planning on grabbing one before we leave town to head back up north tomorrow. The salsa was incredibly fresh with tiny diced chunks of bright red tomatoes and a wonderfully mild spice that reminded me of fresh ceviche... If you are anywhere around, I would highly recommend, as does my Mexican wife, going to El Rancho Cantu and bring the kids because it has a family-friendly atmosphere. Thank you to the servers and kitchen staff for a wonderful mean and authentic Mexican dining experience!
