Great food but the service was unbelieveablely slow... this might have been simply our waitress, as the table mext to us was sat, served, and finished before our food even came out, and their party wad twice the size of ours. Parking is also a nightmare unless you take the resort shuttle. View all feedback.
What Matthew Fulk doesn't like about Appalachia Kitchen:
I mistakenly had dinner last Monday night, and it was a joke. My brother and I were asked to wait to be seated and when we were it was in an empty dinning room. The server was nice but had never done the job before and the manager didn 't care. My lobster bisque arived before my beer, but the whole experience was pretty tolerable right up to the point where they began setting the table right next to us for the final... View all feedback.
AK is one of our favorites! Every item we order on the menu from appetizers, to soup and salad, to the main course and dessert is delicious! My son loves the filet on the kids menu and asks to go back every day to order it again. We always bring friends or family along each year we go and everyone raves about the food.
One of the best meals I have ever had! And I dont say that lightly. Our server was sweet and attentive. Our drinks were delicious. The calamari was the absolute best Ive had. Not rubbery at all, the sauce was soo good. The trout was so incredibly fresh and the pork chop was so juicy and tender with an amazing glaze. The apple pie dessert with cinnamon ice cream really capped this near perfect meal. Good job Appalachia Kitchen!! ?????
I mistakenly had dinner last Monday night, and it was a joke. My brother and I were asked to wait to be seated and when we were it was in an empty dinning room. The server was nice but had never done the job before and the manager didn 't care. My lobster bisque arived before my beer, but the whole experience was pretty tolerable right up to the point where they began setting the table right next to us for the final and only other table of the night. When I asked why would you do this, and why did you make us wait to be seated the response was I didn 't want to sweep that section. After that my brother didn 't feel comfortable eating there and we went upstairs were we at out $50 steaks and were charged full price for this ridiculous experience.
Things unraveled right away. We had a 6:30 PM reservation, arrived on time and were told our table wasn’t ready. We were seated 5 minutes later and waited another 10+ minutes for a server (not even an acknowledgement from the 1/2 dozen staff — including the hostess — that passed our table in a mostly empty restaurant). My girlfriend finally mentioned something to the hostess and received an eye roll for inquiring. Seriously. The hilarity continued when we tried to order a bottle of wine. The QR code/web site for the wine list was down. Great, how about a printed list? Sorry, don’t have one. So after a bit of Q&A we just picked a bottle of the Cab they sell by the glass (the only by the glass red on the menu) but for some reason the price was now $14 more than the price on the menu.Bread (yeast rolls) were served and they were actually quite good, although the butter was served in a plastic Dixie cup. Next was the lamb confit cabbage roll and it was unremarkable. The roasted beet salad was delicious fresh, perfectly seasoned. Entrees were also very good (although they were served while we were still eating our salad). My girlfriend had beef tenderloin and it was perfectly prepared. I had elk osso buco and it was room temperature and a little dry (figured it might be since the meat is so lean) but it was really flavorful and the ‘blood grits’ were the best I’ve ever had. The only downside was the accompanying Brussels sprouts were ridiculously over salted.Food overall was B+Front of house was F (total failure with the exception of the food runners who seemed to be the only personable, conscientious staff)
The food is usually amazing but this time it was not it. Perhaps it was the day or perhaps it was the chef but the combinations weren’t good and some of the food was cold.
