"This place has such a great selection of classic comfort foods from poutine to hamburgers, wraps and even ice cream and other dairy treats! All very reasonably priced too. They don't skimp out on the serving size either. Got a large poutine, comes in those round aluminum dishes, and it had a mountain of cheese that passed the top of the plate."

"As a young man, the Cactus Cafe was the to-go-to place in Sorel, now known as Sorel-Tracy, the place was always jammed-packed, the servers were young and sexy, the tex-mex food was something new to the region and the owners were hot. I left the...region many years ago much like the many industries there and had not returned since my parents passed away eleven years ago, so it was in a mood of nostalgia that I returned with my good old friend Mike and his partner Julie. The first thing that hit me on the way there was the look of this once thriving City, it was a shadow of itself wrapped in poverty, very sad. We finally arrived at the Cactus; the front patio was jammed packed while the side patio and indoors were empty even if it was a nice warm Holiday evening. The inside of the Cactus had dramtically changed since I was there last; no more center bar, no more visible kitchen, gone was the tight familiar feeling, leaving place for standard fare. The servers, female, were young and sexy except for a few has-been staffers who were more in-tune with an old-timers tavern than a youthful bar/restaurant. Finally the food and drink were simply dreadful; the beer was flat, the chicken wings were meatless and the sauce does not hold-up to great tex-mex places such as Fresh Agave, the pizza was terrible, no panache what so ever, just a big lump of bad cheese over the thickest crust you can imagine, the whole thing terribly undercooked, but the fries were actually good. As we left the Cactus Cafe with a doggy bag, actually for the dogs since I would not eat there ever again; actually saved my dogs by thrashing it, we went for a walk through the City. As we strolled through the sad streets, I started feeling a little uncomfortable and quickly started to look for bathrooms... you can guess the rest. As Sorel’s economy tanked over the years, so as the Cactus Café. Stay away!"
