Il Gabbiano - SORRENTO

We visited il gabbiano as family of four to celebrate my 21st birthday. when we arrived, we were shown to a nice table outside, but unfortunately 15 minutes in the evening the wind began to blow and we had to go in. People...all should always be judged about how they deal with things when they go wrong and salvatatore and his team were amazing! they offered us simply the best service we had in sorrento, and could not do enough for us. Connect that with the fact that eating was great and good value also and you can see why we don't hesitate to il gabbiano recommend to anyone who wants a special time. Thanks again for a fantastic evening we will not forget it for many years!

Magic location, beautiful welcome, great cuisine

Unfortunately, this restaurant relies on its location while it is lacking in the food department. all four dishes were dirty and without taste. presentation is excellent, but less than average taste. that is to be a fish restaurant and the fish tastes like. note the only taste on the teller was the olive. you know you're in trouble when your fish is handed over by an olive grove! the dessert was by far the worst. I ordered the cheesecake “strawberry”. the cheesecake was made with synthetic strawberry syrup as they got at McDonald’s! and the same with the whipped cream. it tasted as if it were the fake stuff from a dose. it is not difficult to pamper cream or make a berry chef. if they can't, then just serve a simple cheesecake with fresh strawberries. leave the fake cream and earthberry syrup. the menu has also filtered with this statement (words on the effect) "if do not produce in season, replaced by frozen products". that's not okay. don't serve if it's not in season! I do not visit fine dining restaurants to be served frozen products. the prospects were spectacular. as for service. it was “ok” and friendly. but we were disappointed by the discrepancy between tables. we spent over 140 € and were not even offered the free limoncello after our meal, even not the groups of four behind us. this was particularly unfair, as we heard and saw many other tables around us, offered and given free limoncello, during our meal. it looks a little poor and unfair in the name of restaurants.

I recommend this restaurant! nello and salvatore were amazing to work. it was our slumber week and they treated us like a king and queen. he gave us best sitting on the terrace with probably the best view I saw. the food was...absolutely delicious. very tasteful and portioning are great so they are not too full for the next cure. good every penny worth! we had not as good as you eat for our entire stay in italy! go back.
