"Having had a busy morning we ended up at The Growler at 13:45 and vied the lunchtime menu which was available until 14:00. The restaurant was virtually empty and we asked if the menu was still available. The waitress said Yes and she would bring us the menu. I went to get drinks, which although expensive, were much better than the usual ones. No menu, so I had to ask for one,but was given the main menu, not the lunchtime one. Almost on the dot of 14:00, the waitress reappeared and we asked for items from the earlier menu. She looked at her watch, but I pointed out that we arrived 15 minutes earlier, had asked if the menu was available, but had not been given a menu as promised. Anyway she agreed to get the meals we requested. They were slow in arriving (and the place was virtually empty), but they were very well cooked, tasty and filling. Now, if I was a suspicious person, I might think that they deliberately waited until 14:00 before taking our order possibly thinking we might order from the main (more expensive) menu . Although the food and drinks were good, but the price and the service would discourage me from returning should I be in Ayr again."

"We were seated immediately and was served very quickly. The staff are very polite and attentive. The pea and ham soup was lovely and hot and the plouhmans lunch was lovely as well. The rolls were nice and fresh and totally enjoyed it. We followed it with some awesome victoria sponge which my daughter and I really enjoyed. It is a lovely tearoom and would highly recommend."
