"This is by no means my first review of this lovely pub. But the consistency we find with their meals and the Sunday roast in particular is worth telling over and over. Today three of us all went for the roast beef melt in the mouth, and cut just as one wants it, rare for those of us who like it that way, through to well done if that's your preference. And served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, four seasonal vegetables (today it was red cabbage, broccoli, carrots and green beans) and lots of thick beef gravy. We chose not to have starters or desserts this time, opting for the large main meal alone and so ignoring the slightly smaller option. Today, had we not gone for the beef, we could have had the pork, which we have had on occasion, as it always comes with stuffing and perfect crackling. And it is always just as good great consistency that we've never found anywhere else, and price wise it's all amazing good value too. In short, it's hard to beat, on quantity, quality and price and little wonder therefore that it's always wise to book in advance. That said, Dave and Di run a place where nothing's too much trouble and they'll always fit you in if they can, but my advice is, when it comes to food this good, don't leave it to chance, pick up the phone and book. We already have, and we'll be back at our usual table next Sunday."

"The Carpenters Arms has largely improved since the new manager has taken over. Probably the best pub food that I have had in Sherborne the chef clearly takes pride in his work, not to mention the value for money! Was incredibly surprised when expecting mediocre pub food wish I had taken photos but it won't be long before we visit again. The improved decor throughout is much more welcoming and homely, with finishing touches such as blankets for the beer garden. We are looking forward to our next visit!"

"La barca was recommended to me and we found it in the main road that looks at the water. the restaurant is bright and spacious, but at night it is dim and cozy. I came with my friend, mama and mother in the law for a cozy dinner after a nice day. we have ordered enough to sink a small ship and ate it. my usual tapas-hunts are cafe andaluz and la tasca (especially those in silverburn. I feel that is remarkable – la barca is the first non-chain tapas bar I tried and I loved it."

"Had to wait for 2 hours for my meal to be delivered, for it to be cold half cooked, nearly raw chicken and not an apology offered when called them back! Has to be the worst meal we have had. Would not recommend again and will never eat from them again."

"We stayed here for 3 nights in september the location is very central but you can't park anywhere near to unload luggage as its surrounded by double yellow lines and a fast traffic flow once inside you face 4 flights on steps with your luggage, because their isn't a lift so unless your fit forget it, the rooms are excellent very clean and with most facilities,at £96 per night without breakfast and add parking it's poor value unfortunately we we subject to wetherspoons breakfast mangled together on one plate because we couldn't find any where else"
