We stopped here for lunch on our way from Bruton, Somerset to Higher Bockhampton, Dorset. The owner Sean kindly sat us on the terrace without a reservation. We had a gorgeous Sunday roast on a warm sunny day so it was a perfect place to... View all feedback.
What 680davidh680 doesn't like about Montague Inn:
I ordered a free range buttermilk crispy chicken burger but received a breaded schnitzel. It was ok but not what was advertised. It’s the equivalent of ordering a fillet steak and receiving corned beef. View all feedback.
Lovely pub with great food Delicious lunch I had partridge breast superb . Fantastic views from garden Staff very friendly and helpful. A great find in Somerset
Best pub food that I have enjoyed in a long while. The menu manages to go beyond the tedious 'pub classics ' although some were present for the unadventurous. You can tell a good chef by his sauces and gravies and my food was delicious throughout. Two guests similarly impressed. Pity the pub is a bit too far from my home for me to be a regular visitor. The locals are very lucky. Smiling polite and efficient service, and a prompt kitchen.
Yet again a great meal, warm and friendly atmosphere and if in doubt about what wine to choose ask Sean for a reoimmendation
A delightful, warm and welcoming pub, my favourite there are two wood burners so you immediately feel the warmth when you enter on a chilly winter day just what you want. It 's also friendly and in my opinion the food delicious and beautifully presented. If only other pubs could learn from this one how to provide good service and 'delight ' the customer. Sadly, this level of customer service is not the 'norm ' for most.
We enjoyed the Christmas Party Menu on a busy Saturday evening; Sean and his team looked after us exceptionally well. Everyone agreed the food was superb, the staff were attentive and the whole evening was a great success. We could not fault a thing from the original booking to the event itself.
