What Rachel Davies likes about The Village Bakery:
Quite possibly the best sandwiches/rolls etc we've ever had.I bought a poppy seed baguette with chicken, bacon, mayo and salad it was £4ish and it was practically a loaf, it easily fed me and my 3 girls (all 11yrs+ with healthy appetites).Good value, Good food, Lovely staff,Our 3yr old recommends the iced buns read more.

I've been using this bakery for many years. but I will not use it again after my recent experience. covid made this life very difficult for everyone. if they enter into a load, it would be nice to be greeted with a smile or even a hello not the moaning and, as I was told, they were only open for 3 minutes! read more.

"It’s been difficult for pubs that are not chains to get through the other side since Covid, this little gem in the heart of Taunton town has done just that. It’s because of the steadfast commitment and passion of the owner along with his team who have worked hard and succeeded to provide customers with great local produce, thoughtfully prepared dishes and good service. It is only because of this that this lovely bistro pub is always buzzy with a lovely atmosphere and on the occasions I have visited the food has been delicious, exciting and service always great. I brought along family from London on this occasion who are extremely hard to please having been other places and been disappointed, I thought it may be a challenge- I am happy to say all the food was delicious and they were very happy ! "The best pizza I've ever had!! Couldn't not fault it at all, the pizza was absolutely delicious, the staff were so kind and the service was quick. We ate here twice during our holiday and got takeaway once and it was consistently incredible. I was very impressed with the takeaway service as I called up and was able to collect my pizza within 10 minutes, but I can imagine this would take longer for larger orders and at busier times. Bear in mind that it can get very busy so if you are are hoping to get a table in the evening, make sure to book in advance. However, we found walking in at lunch time without a booking wasn't a problem. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough, it's an absolute must to eat at if you're visiting Lyme Regis!!"
