Sadly, it's now closed down, it was a very small pub, with a car park. But it lacked room, it was the size of a sitting room, back in the day, it made its own beer and was a small brewery View all feedback.
What vinnyjoe90 doesn't like about Wheatsheaf Pub:
I called in early on a Saturday night, the menu was not large but neither were the prices. I choose garlic mushrooms to start and a lasagne for mains. The eight mushrooms arrived fresh from the fryer, in a bowl on their own. they were hot and tasty and worth the £3. The mains arrived a short while later, again the Lasagne fresh from the freezer, via the microwave, like wise the chips. The salad from a fridge bag. Com... View all feedback.
I called ahead on a Saturday night to make a reservation. The menu wasn't extensive, but the prices were reasonable. I decided to start with the garlic mushrooms and have lasagna as my main course. The mushrooms were fresh and delicious, served hot on a plate for 3 pounds. The lasagna came out a bit later, also fresh but likely reheated from the freezer. The salad seemed to be from a pre-packaged bag. Overall, the meal was decent and reminded me of something I could make at home, but I was happy to pay 6 pounds to have someone else do the cooking and cleaning.
My partner and I visited Claire's with the hopes of trying some tasty, traditional pub food. We were a bit disappointed to find that the food was fried and seemed like it was pre-made. Nonetheless, we were hungry so we went ahead and ate. The pub is conveniently located on a main street in the village, near a hotel. It has the potential to be a great spot for customers, but during our visit, they seemed to have dropped the ball. Despite this, the pub has a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and good beer. I would consider coming back, but I would probably take a closer look at what other customers are eating before ordering next time.
The staff at Steak n Ale Steakhouse were fantastic, helpful, and attentive to all of our needs. The kitchen staff were knowledgeable and well-trained, making our visit even more enjoyable. The homemade cakes smelled amazing, and we couldn't resist trying them. We visited for the Sunday roast, which offered great value for the delicious cuts of meat. The portions were generous and the staff were always happy to accommodate any requests we had. They made sure we were completely satisfied with everything. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit. I even stayed a bit longer after finishing my meal just to enjoy the great atmosphere. I only wish they had a better selection of beers. Highly recommended for the excellent value, good food, and attentive service. A truly great experience.

I was in there alone while staying at the hotel up the road. The woman was friendly and helpful. I had a drink or two and a snack. I hope someone new buys it.
