This charming little restaurant in Spring City is absolutely worth a detour! I had the Bratwurst Plate, while my wife enjoyed the Reuben along with some tasty potato salad, and we shared both dishes. What Philip Weeks doesn't like about Das Café:
I love the food. Wife had the waffle with fruit. It was great. I had the German breakfast Sausage, but they have not been able to get the German Breakfast Sausage for a couple of weeks. I substituted a Braut. It was a really good Braut, but not designed to have with eggs and German potatoes. It?s not their fault, there are no German breakfast sausages available from their supplier. This place is incredible! They serve an excellent breakfast and have a delightful artsy atmosphere inside. The handmade coffee mugs are also beautiful. However, the best aspect of this cafe is the wonderful people who run it. I accidentally left my favorite thermos behind and was hours away by the time I realized. They took the initiative to send it back to me on their own. Now that's what I call real customer service! Thank you for the great experience at the cafe!
I'm currently off season, so I decided to try the Belgian waffles with berries, while my partner ordered the bratwurst dinner. We also got a side of potato salad because of the great reviews. The potatoes were served with a crispy garnish and had an interesting slightly sweet flavor. However, the herbs were a bit lacking. The potato salad, seasoned with dill, was something I had never tried before. The bratwurst was delicious, and I regretted that I could only have a small taste. The Belgian waffle was delightful, and I’m glad I went with that instead of a full dinner. Next time, I plan to order the waffle along with a side of bratwurst because we definitely want to come back!
We enjoyed the Bratwurst dinner and the Reuben sandwich, and both were incredible! The sauerkraut is the best I've ever had, and the horseradish and dill gravy on the potatoes is fantastic!
