The food wasn't bad for pub food in rural Cape Breton, but the service was so shockingly poor that we'll never go back. The server brought our food and then we never saw her again. At one point she walked by quickly and asked how the food was but was walking so fast I'm sure she didn't hear the answer. My water glass was empty and yet she didn't come by to see if I wanted more. "Enjoyed a lovely dinner as guests of some friends from Germany and another couple. The food is above average and the atmosphere and ambiance are indicative of what will be a very delicious meal. This is fine dining at it's best. There are several choices for appetizers and the members of our party each had something different so we were able to see almost all of the menu selection. The restaurant accommodated my gluten allergy and I felt very comfortable that my food would be carefully prepared. There is a variety of entrees all cooked to perfection and the desserts (although we didn't partake) looked wonderful. They even brought out a dessert tray with small portions to show what they have and you could have if you wanted to taste the desserts but were too full for a regular dessert. Service was very good and it was quite busy there. There was entertainment in the lounge area with some wonderful ladies singing making for an enjoyable meal. We have eaten there before for dinner, brunch buffets and dinner buffets in the past and always enjoyed it. It is the kind of restaurant where you would get dressed up to celebrate an event with friends or family or just a couple celebrating an anniversary or similar. A little pricey but for the quality of food and service well worth it."

"This is a donut shop and the prime place to get coffee throughout the area. There's a decent collection of pastries and donuts with some other food though I didn't try it. Their approach to coffee is that you have to advise the cream/milk and sweetener guidance. For example, two cream and two sugar and then they mix it for you. There isn't a station for you to pour your own creamer and add sugar. This location didn't have a latte machine. Service was good and the food was tasty."

"With the family stopped while I visited my relatives in the area. From now on, I was impressed by how “through the book” the COVID protocol was observed. The staff was friendly, polite and well maintained. The food was good, with appropriate portion sizes, and with a variety of elements to make sure someone could find something they wanted on the menu. It was a local place with standard restaurant fare. It is not gourmet 5 stars Michelin Essen, but it is a meeting place for people to share a meal and a good time."
