The Schwanen is indeed a good choice, which is also confirmed by the previous guests with an average evaluation of 3.4.

What Mathias Odermatt doesn't like about Schwanen:
we had dinner with family (7 total). the service is very slow and sometimes not available. we had a salad to begin and either pizza or pasta as pornstars. at one point my man had to stand up to tell the waitress that we needed another round drink because she had not stopped after the original order. the salads arrived quickly and were good. but when the main course arrives, everyone was served except me. no explanati... Food is delicious. However, some of the staff is really unfriendly, slow and forgetful. The owner should really take into account the bad reviews about the staf...

Very nice, well cooked food. Sadly when I was there they only had 2 customers in (including me) due to the Covid-19 situation. Good food, friendly staff.

"In my 3 days in St Gallen, this was the stand out restaurant for me. I was in 2 minds after reading some of the prior reviews, but on the night I went, I had a great evening. I hadn't made a reservation but received...a warm greeting by the lady at front of house. The menu was in English. The food was Swiss styled, well prepared, interesting, seasonal, and service was prompt. Definitely go and have a great time!"

"Based on previous reviews, this restaurant has really cleaned up its act. We stayed with our son at the hotel and had an outstanding diner there. The amount of choice was just right and just about every ingredient on the menu was local. Even the lamb. Service was fast and friendly, and multilingual of course (this is Switzerland). And then everything we ate was great, with just the right twist on traditional dishes to make them interesting. With several vegetarian options to choose from, even meat-eaters like us got tempted. We like eating out and this is one we will remember."
