"Really nice smoked and juicy meats. Seating is only outdoors so check the weather. When I went it was windy and raining. Not a great way to enjoy some good food. I just have to go back now. Customer service was top ... The lady there know how to look after customers. Parking: Industrial area so parking during the week can be hard with lots of trucks all around. Service: Dine in"

"We went as two couples, trying to avoid the "I'm having the duck, what are you having?" situation, we asked that the mains and entrees be served as shared meals.The waiter, a lovely friendly person was not just willing, but enthusiastic about helping.So two orders of delicious dumplings were served individually, two each.The grilled duck breast, a special not on the menu, was similarly sliced and served to each of us. It too was delicious.Singapore noodles may have been the only dish that was simply good, without being exceptional.But, despite, how good the previous dishes had been, the high point of the meal was the King George Whiting. This was lightly battered and absolutely fresh, again served as a fillet to each of us.My only criticism is that we somehow managed to avoid any accompanying vegetables. The dishes we ordered were not accompanied by any side greens. Next time, I would make a point of ordering a dish that included them as well as the other excellent choices.The room was busy, and although the tables are quite close, there is no sense of intrusion from other tables.Service was impeccable, and friendly. Our reservation had been made on the basis of other reviews here, and Lao's deserves every rave review. Melbourne has some exceptional restaurants, and this is definitely one of them.The menu prices look steep at first glance, but, including a bottle of perfectly presentable Pinot, the four of us dined for a little over $50 each, which is by no means excessive for food of this standard."
