"We came after food search after we found the place in souris that we were closed because of non-surviving covid. it was late in the small prairie city time, but saw that this place was open until we went to wawanesa. They were open, we were the only ones that were there, and everyone had the special steak sandwich. came with suppe and salat and kartoffel. the steak was ordered (in rare cases) and everything was delicious and plentiful. the service was also good. would certainly recommend this as place to stop and eat."

"We stopped at the Spruce Woods Inn for lunch on our way to Spirit Sands to do some hiking & see the Manitoba desert.We were greeted immediately & told to sit wherever we liked. Menus and a pitcher of water arrived within a minute. The menu is not extensive but what one would expect from a small town hotel diner. There were a couple of daily specials as well. The restaurant was clean and well taken care of.My mother-in-law and I had the hot roast beef sandwich, my father-in-law tried the BBQ beef sandwich. The sandwiches do not include anything else and run approx 7.75 each. You can add on fries & coleslaw, mashed & coleslaw etc for 4.75 which I found a bit steep. I will add that the mashed potatoes were real as was the gravy and the roast was so tender you really didn't even need to use a knife to cut it. My in-laws ordered fries & their plates were so full they couldn't finish them. The dinner menu looked great as well.The service was excellent as was the food. This isn't an area of the province that I visit often but if I am ever out this way again I will definately stop in for lunch. It was really great. If you are heading out to Spirit Sands this is a great place for lunch or dinner."
