"After visiting on several occasions in the past, and reading the occasional negative reviews, I never thought that I would be the one to leave such a review, but I am afraid that tonight’s experience has tainted my view on this previously loved restaurant. I understand that some places have this “on licence” protocol, but when you live literally 2 minutes down the road, and have spent good money on a bottle of wine that you have only consumed half of due to it being a Wednesday night, I really don’t see how it is right to refuse that a customer who has paid for the whole bottle to be told they can’t take it home upon leaving the restaurant at 10pm (closing time). I’m certain you will find if you research this topic, that this is an argument of which the majority share my view. I have years of previous experience working in Aberdeen’s only 5 star hotel, who wouldn’t have dreamed of refusing customers the right of taking home their unfinished meals/wine, as they had made that purchase in full. We have always been big spenders on our visits here, and I always recommended the Tolbooth to guests in the past, but i am afraid that I will now be pointing them in the direction of The Silver Darling instead."
