"Short version: I don't regret trying this place, but I probably won't return. Long version: My small group arrived for dinner and there was nobody around; we eventually found a woman who begrudgingly took our orders at the counter. As we sat waiting for our food, we noticed there was no music, the decor was faded and boring, the building was falling apart, and we were listening to the sounds of a microwave. Yep, it seems as though most of our food was just microwaved. As for the food itself, it was fine, but nothing special. I enjoyed my entree (fried fish, so cooked fresh), but the rest of my group weren't wowed by their entrees. Between the mediocre food and the uncomfortable vibes, this wasn't my favorite meal. Overall, we agreed that this place was worth a try, but probably not worth a return."

"Tempest is one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. It is expensive, but it is worth every penny.<br br/>To get a good deal, try to visit during Happy Hour. They have nearly a dozen different oysters available to try on the half shell. It's a great opportunity to compare different varieties. Other appetizers include the fish cake, the conch fritters, and the smoke stack (whitefish salad, lox, trout, caviar). I've been pleased with the freshness, presentation, and flavors of all of them. The bartenders are friendly and make very good (and strong) drinks.<br br/>For dinner, we've always stuck with the seafood (trout, crab, tuna, marlin). It's always perfectly cooked, fresh, and delicious. Our service has always been outstanding. Friendly, prompt, respectful.<br br/>If you haven't been, I highly recommend the Tempest Oyster Bar."
