What ianor likes about Phoenix Tavern:
Although the menu is, perhaps, modest, the cuisine is excellent. Beautifully cooked and interesting. I had the cod which was superb and the truffle mash and honey and anise carrots were really well done. We also had a bottle of Duoro red which was really nice and a real bargain. Had a decent Sunday lunch here, though it should've been, as price above average for the area. Not been in the Phoenix for a while, and was dismayed how much the place lacked atmosphere It used to have a lovely old log fire, it's now been removed replaced with a tacky replica one.
