TATURA Hot Bread have a history of winning awards at the Merbein Vanilla Slice Challenge and again won bronze in 2014. I was excited to sample one of these on my way through the town.First impressions were very good with the addition of the Christmas decorative fondant icing a nice touch for my Christmas Eve visit. The freshness of the slice was clearly visible with such ease to cut and eat it. The custard so creamy... View all feedback.
This is it my #1 #vanillaslice #tatura #bakery . They dropped the ball a few years back had less custard powder in the velvety insides but in recent times they are back like a reoccurring bout of shingles but way more tastier. The pasty is flaky and snaps with every bite and the icing is sweet though not sickly. Like #inxs hit don't change this is what I say to the baker at #Tatura hot bake you have created the perfect #snotblock . #food #foodie #taste #foodporn #instafood
Vanilla Slice. Best vanilla slice in Tat, their pies are fairly good too (and have won awards nationally recently but my loyalties lie elsewhere in that regard :
Wanted to try this place since moving to shep. Tried mushroom pie : nice meaty and mushroom texture, not to saltly. Good. Curry pie: not much curry favour just was like a meat pie. Potato cake were sad. Just a 1mm slice of rubber Potato in batter. Poor. Vanilla slice. Meh average. Maybe 8/10 won't say it's the best ever. Otherwise their sandwich counter looked good. Maybe better than pies.
Yes I was here in the last week, I bought a ham and pineapple pizza in which I took home cut up and put in the freezer for when Needed. $7.99 good price, have had their pies, cakes, even butter chicken pies, all great, not really like other bakery as have not so good food there. The main one going down main street next door to newsagents.
Best vanilla slices I've ever had. Coffee not so good.
