My family from Bristol visited this restaurant for the first time today. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived. Throughout our visit, the bar manager Johnny took great care of us. We ordered from the special board and the food was both delicious and plentiful. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant and would highly recommend it as a meeting spot for families. What hanthompson13 doesn't like about The Village Inn:
I came for a skittles match. 1) my husband paid £17 for 2 pints and a pint of Diet Coke. This is extortionately expensive. 2) the skittles alley was absolutely freezing cold no one thought to turn the heating on despite knowing the match was happening. Luckily I found the thermostat and sorted it myself. 3) the skittles alley is poorly maintained, with a large and noticeable ‘bump’ about 2/3 of the way down. 4) there... View all feedback.
Chose this pub for convenience and reviews off Tripadvisor Gave it an average for a couple of reasons food was good but not amazing really was lack of staff and billing issues which put a downer on our experience at pub We all chose our Sunday roast off a board which said large one price and small another no indication that lamb was more expensive (or I just didn’t see it also 2 dinners opted for all meats which was extra as expected but was charged for lamb dinners which was already £2 extra then another £3 for mix of meat so just be aware and maybe ask first where I didn’t I don’t mind paying but I don’t hidden surprises when I get the bill so maybe clearer menu or staff actually informing you as you order Staff were lovely but over stretched between waiting tables and serving at the bar . When we had eaten tables weren’t cleared and had to go to bar to ask to order dessert (at least 1 hr after but as staff were busy at bar with long que was not easy as they were busy . Also check your receipt . This is where we found out lamb was more and a small mistake which was rectified by pub
A lucky dip visit at 2.15 looking for a light lunch. Immediately welcomed by the landlord who said take your choice with the menu. I had an excellent sweet and sour pork sizzler with rice and prawn crackers and my wife had a delicious spicy vegetable soup. We would be more than happy to visit again.
We were looking to have lunch somewhere where we had not visited before, and came across The Village Inn in Twyning. Both my wife and I opted for the chicken ham and leek pie with chips and peas, we enjoyed it immensely, it was flavoursome and well seasoned. Good range of beers as well (Landlord, Butty Bach etc.. . We will definitely return.
Whole place not clean. Sticky tables. Chairs and carpets not clean.
The VI as it is known locally is set on the Village Green in Twyning and perfectly positioned for sunset drinks! A warm welcome whatever the season or weather, the landlord and staff want to serve you well, with good real ales and increasingly good quality, interesting pub grub! The locals are chatty and welcoming, which leads to a great, friendly atmosphere, so gastropub it may not be but if you're after a friendly, proper village pub with good grub and decent beers (and wines) then do visit!
