I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a nice homemade lunch at a reasonable price! Three words to describe this restaurant. lovely, delicious and fantabulous! What Hannah McCullough doesn't like about The Cup and Cake:
This restaurant is set in a gorgeous old house next to a church dated 1867 in downtown Tillsonburg. The menu choices were innovative and tantalizing. We placed our orders with our server. The food turned out to be excellent but the service was substandard. It was slow and on multiple occasions we witnessed servers going back to the kitchen empty-handed. My wife, who served tables as a teenager, stated that was a defi... View all feedback.
We enjoyed the friendly service, tasty food and ambience! Close to downtown shopping...a great place to take a break! Thank you!
A happy, friendly small town experience, with great food and phenomenal desserts! The fact that is it in a historic manse, increases the pleasure of coming. Make sure you have a reservation. Ladies when asked large or small-pick small. The only thing wrong with it is that it is not open for supper or I would eat all my meals here.
Enjoyed lunch with a family member. The front room is the more attractive of the two in a historic home. My son loved a sandwich of real chicken breast, stuffing and cranberry sauce on a ciabatta bun, while I had a nice-tasting curried soup with a sandwich with garlic-flavored chicken, stuffing and cheddar cheese, all grilled on a panini press. There was a wide selection of baked good and we took a sampling of four home to enjoy with the rest of the family. The carrot cake was very good, as was a chocolate cheese cake-like tart. Service was friendly and helpful. While we did not make reservations, we arrived just before the lunch rush -- the place fills up quickly as there is not a lot of seating and its clear that local really enjoy this place.
Cute little place with interesting decor. They display an eclectic arrangement of art (some for sale). We were seated in the middle of the room at a small two person table that was just big enough for our knees. Not once, but a few times we bumped our table. The room was full and we had the pleasure of hearing everyone's conversations to the point where we decided to just not talk because we couldn't compete with the noise. The waitress messed up our orders and even though the menu suggests that they will cater to your dietary needs, I was unable to order a Frittatta without tomato because they "make that in the morning". I also ordered a salad. There was no selection of dressing because apparently "they just put a house dressing on it". I asked for the dressing on the side. It came with the dressing on it. I didn't eat it and even though the waitress noticed her error, she didn't make any apologies. Prices were reasonable. They only had one soup. It was a potato leek soup but when served it had so much corn in it my mother thought they served her a corn chowder. She said it was ok...but she didn't order a corn chowder. We chose this restaurant to try something different. We were not overly impressed. There was however a group of ladies that seem to meet there very often as we overhead their plans to miss Aprils visit but return in May. Our visit was just , meh.
Lovely old home and delicious food, great combo. The service was good too. Its so busy you usually have to reserve for the lunch hours
