"We had the distinct pleasure of dining in this lovely little establishment on two occasions while vacationing on the Canal de Burgogne. The woman who runs the restaurant always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming, and the waitress ensures that your every need is met, even if it might take awhile to get to your request and if linguistic barriers prove challenging. The decor of the restaurant is inviting, particularly when dining on the patio, and the food well-prepared. On our second visit, the proprietress even remembered how I like my steak cooked. If you find yourself anywhere near Tonnerre, Le Saint Pére is definitely worth a visit."

"We made a stop in the charming village of ligny the chatel. the weather was not conducive to a picnic we went to lunch at the Bief Inn.We opted for the base menu at 20 euros and we were entitled to an irreproachable service. The owner is very welcoming and we were able to converse with her."

"A sad case of great food marred by nasty servers. We were greeted by a cold and stand-offish “host” who showed us to a terrible table in the back next to the restrooms under a glaring bright light. Noticing two empty two-tops, we asked to switch and were brushed off with the nonsensical excuse that the tables “were reserved.” (We of course also had a reservation. Things devolved from there, with condescension, epic periods of being ignored, and-my favorite-the rude server in question dropping off our starters and walking away without a word. When we asked for an explanation of the beautifully intricate dishes in front of us, he snapped at us, “I thought you knew what you ordered.” Such rudeness does not a nice experience make. Too bad. Can’t recommend."

"Excellent Fathers Day meal. The food was outstanding as was the service. We were greeted with a handshake from the patron and a warm smile from the waitress. The attention to service was some of the best we have received, nothing was rushed, we were allowed to finish our apéritifs before our starter was served, we finished our wine before deserts were served, absolutely worth a visit."
