The prices are right out of the sixties, which I think was the last time the place was cleaned. Ignore the greasy dust on most surfaces. It does have a City of Toronto green "pass" sign in the window so I trust the kitchen is cleaner. Typical 60s diner fare. I have lived and also worked nearby since the early '80s. We have eaten at Gales numerous times and our meal here last month proved that little has changed, unlike the fast-gentrifying neighbourhood. You won't have to wait long to be seated at this tiny eatery. The movie 'Hairspray' shot some of its scenes here, with Christopher Walken's character running his joke shop on these premises.
