Shads Chicken - Torrance

I visited this restaurant for the first time after hearing so many positive reviews on Instagram. Since I was nearby, I had to give it a shot. The line was lengthy, as anticipated, but it moved quickly. The staff was friendly, and the fried chicken was crispy. I also tried the mac and cheese, greens, and red beans and rice. The meal includes greens, but the other sides are extras. While the mac and cheese and greens were just average, I expected a bit more given all the hype. Overall, everything had a pleasing taste. I'm looking forward to trying the chicken sandwich during my next visit!

I finally got the chance to try this restaurant, and I have to say I was let down by the kickin' chicken sandwich. I ordered it spicy, and my first bite was overwhelmed by sriracha sauce. While I do enjoy sriracha, I don't think it belongs on every dish. I had high hopes for this place since everyone had been raving about it. I decided to give it 3 stars, though, because the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and the service was quick.

The fried chicken was crispy, but it lacked any flavor; I didn’t taste any spices, it was just average fried chicken. The macaroni and cheese was decent, but the real reason I’m giving this place just 1 star is that I found a dark ball in my mac and cheese. I’ll be submitting a photo of it. Overall, I won't be returning as I don’t think it’s worth the money.

Always promising times of arrival to the spot they will park at and usually never on time. Not only are they late but they have to now set up and waste people time even more. Purposely block comments on their Instagram so you can't reach out when they are late.

Amazing , no long wait besides the line the can get crazy but I definitely see why. It's worth the wait. Clean, flavorful, CRUNCHY . It was everything it should have been. I haven't had soul food this light yet satisfying in a while.
