Le Gaulois - Tours

My wife and I had a good steak dinner here tonight. The steaks were of good quality and cooked to perfection. Oddly, when my wife, who is French, asked for butter for the bread, the waiter told her they didn't have any butter! The Frites...were not crisp. What William Brun doesn't like about Le Gaulois:
Somehow, seen from the outside, this restaurant seems a bit more classy than most of the others in the center of lovely Tours. Unfortunately, the food (we had foie gras and fish) was clearly below average, lacking taste and sophistication. On the typical French street...corner restaurant you get much better than this.
