"We missed the flamenco, but we loved the food. We selected Malaga Restaurant in Hamilton Square because it is a meeting point for a group of friends from Northern and Southern New Jersey. Some of the group has been here before. We also booked it on Wednesday for the Flamenco dance and were disappointed as, two days before our reservation, I was called to say that the dancers had canceled their show. However, we were certainly not disappointed by our evening in Malaga. The modern decor is decorated with paintings of Spanish scenes. Tables are covered with bed linen. Discrete lighting radiates a flattering shine over the entire dining room. Even on Wednesday night the restaurant was full. The meal was great. As a group of six, we had a varied selection. The appetizers include shells casino, empanadas, shells and a platelet of Spanish sausages with shrimps and mushrooms that encourage them to share. I ordered a cook special entrée, boiled scallops in a lemon cream sauce, paired with bacon wrapped fillet mignon medallions in mushroom sauce. Somehow, the fillets were mixed with sausage, which gave the meat an unusual taste. I was astonished as the two disparate sauces mixed with their individual entrees to tease the palate. Other ducks, equally excellent, were paella marinara and veal, one in a mushroom sauce, one in lemon. The meal was completed with flan, crème caramel, sorbets and extremely creamy cappuccino. We were invited to drink their signature after dinner, an Amoretto type liqueur. The service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive waiters made every wish. They realized that we were there for accompaniment, and were treated to a cozy meal, This was done as an accommodation for us. My only complaint could be their reluctance to serve water. We asked twice at the beginning of our meal and twice after refilling. However, we had no problems with additional bottles of wine, so I thought this was a very small inconvenience. Malaga is a bit expensive, but it is worth it."
