in trieste with friends we did everything possible to dine to the patriarch, the first time in nothing changed in quality and perfect quantity. the patriarch is burber only to the sight, but in the substance always knows what to advise and serve. his wife prepares exquisiteness as having in the mouth sea sauces always different but balanced in every single flow. I don't want to go back so nicely to a restaurant. unfo... View all feedback.
What annagrand2018 doesn't like about Enoteca Al Patriarca:
At the beginning the patrone was extremly unfriendly but after some time he became really nice! The food (branzino and ravioli) was excellent and the bread was fresh and delicious! In the end we also got a grappa for free, which pleased us a lot. Not so suitable for non fish eaters View all feedback.

... we had lunch at Enoteca. Boy, are we delighted we did! Well, TBH, a NYC friend of ours is a friend to Al Patriarca's owners, Gianna and Roby. Prior to flying to Italy we had made plans to have lunch there during our recent stay in Muggia. Gianna and Roby are delightful and treated us as if we had been life long friends. After the mandatory baci e abracci, we sat at our table (there are only 3 or 4 tables inside and a few outside reservations are the way to go here! . When Roby asked what we wanted, we made it easy: bring us what is fresh we eat everything! We started with a plate of raw and pickled fish, including sardines, tuna, cod, two fish pastes and pickled onions. The sardines glistened with freshness. Every bite brought a new mouthgasm. The pasta dish was homemade ravioli stuffed with shrimp. The sauce was sweet, the ravioli perfectly al dente and the shrimp redolent of the sea. Mopping up the sauce with crusty bread was almost a meal in itself. The entree was a whole roasted red fish served with potatos, carrots and celery in a sauce that was surely created by King Neptune himself. While preparing the fish at the table, Roby reminded us that the sweetest part of the fish was its cheeks, which we heartily enjoyed. Dessert was a homemade apple strudel with chocolate sauce. Mere words do not do our meal justice. Even the photos we are posting as great as they are fail to capture the aromas, tastes and the environment of this intimate enoteca. We ate in a number of terrific restaurants during our five day visit to Muggia and Trieste; Enoteca Al Patriarca was undoubtedly the best of a terrific cadre of fish restaurants. No trip to Muggia is complete without a meal here.
Very good restaurant and very cosy atmosphere. One of the best fish restaurants in Muggia Nothing to complain
Whenever we want to have a relaxing evening out we go and visit Gina and Roberto! The atmosphere in the little restaurant in the picturesque medieval centre of Muggia is very cozy and welcoming, the wine selection is generous, as are the portions of excellent seafood-based dishes cooked by Gina. If you want a pampering dinner in a lovely ambience — this is the place for you! Highly recommended!
